Finding the Right Home Light Fixtures
Home light fixtures cover a very large range of different illuminating products. You will need them for every room in the house, and even the outside. Thankfully, there is a different type designed specifically for each application. If you’re creative, you can really add some nice lighting that will make your home look fancier, more elegant, and more inviting. Be clear about this though; commercial and residential lighting are slightly different because of the different voltages and ballasts. So don’t simply assume that any fixture will go. A mobile home light and fixture might not work in an office. If you’re ever confused, ask an electrician.
The kitchen alone has many different opportunities for special light fixtures. You can have hanging fixtures over the table (and get modern, rustic looking, or antique, depending on what the rest of your kitchen looks like). Then, for the counters you could get LED under cabinet lights. These are so useful when looking for things as the dark usually hinders your vision. The best part is how efficient LEDs are. They use very little electricity and do not waste light by giving off heat.
Landscape lighting should be a huge consideration. Putting a little thought into this can literally transform your yard and make it stand apart from the neighbors. You’ll need to make sure the fixtures are outdoor types, and then get ready to make decisions. There are solar powered (the more energy efficient kind), fluorescent, decorative, and porch lights that will illuminate your house in ways you only dreamed. Your patio and exterior deck will be gorgeous.
For the living room, many people go for a hanging chandelier. This vintage look is creative, and there are many designer chandeliers out there, but everyone does it. Why not get pendant lighting? This will really put your furniture in a great light and is just a small enough change that people will not be sure what you did. It goes well in kids rooms, too, although you might get recessed lighting so they won’t accidentally strike it with a ball or other toy.
The brands to consider are Quoizel, Sea Gull, Halo, Craftsman, Murano, and Hinkley. They all make excellent fixtures for all different applications. They will have different options available in different places, so get the one that is available that you can afford. And as always, remember to ask an electrician for help if you aren’t sure about something.
